Vahram Baghdasaryan ‘no coalition talks held with ARF-D’

A senior lawmaker of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, Vahram Baghdasaryan, ruled out the reports about coalition talks with ARF-D.

Mr. Baghdasaryan said he is aware of only a private meeting with representatives of the former coalition partner.

“So my demand to you is to distinguish between private meetings and negotiations.

The event was a private meeting in which we, the members of the Republican faction, did not have participation; neither did we discuss it internally,” he said, refraining from further comments.

But the Republican MP did not rule out a possible cooperation with the ARF-D.

“We have repeatedly stated that we never reject a cooperation [offer] or a coalition partnership with those political forces which pursue, share our ideas, our programs and will share responsibility,” he said.

He was asked whether the possible coalition deal with the ARF-D is likely to be concluded before or after the 2017 parliamentary election, the Republican MP refrained from mentioning a specific timeframes.

In his words, the party hasn’t ever considered the issue.

“If there are political forces that will share our ideas and agree to our keynote provisions to enable us to make their full implementation possible, we are ready to conduct negotiations with them,” he added.
