Decrease of  birth-rate in Armenia

Karine Kuyumjyan, Head of the Population Census and Demography Division, National Statistical Service of Armenia, told reporters on Friday that 41,815 live-births were registered in Armenia last year.

According to her this is a 2.8% decrease as compared with the previous year.

“If we compare the data with the previous year’s data, we can see a decrease of 0.4 per thousand.

The highest index was registered in Yerevan, 14.9 per thousand. Relatively high figures were registered in Ararat, Shirak and Kotayk.

The lowest figures were registered in the Syunik region – ten live-births per every 1,000 people,” she said.
