Hraparak: Ethnic minorities will have seats in National Assembly

Armenia’s new Constitution requires ethnic minorities have seats in parliament following the 2017 parliamentary elections.

It will give chances to five ethnic minorities: Yezidis, Assyrians, Greeks, Russians and Kurds.

On the one hand, the Electoral Code cannot establish separate procedures for them (single seat voting or proportional representation on the political parties candidates’ list), the authorities are, on the other hand, inclined to fix a specific quantity for those people as in the case of women, says the paper.
