Candidate for ombudsman proposed by Armenian parliament committee

On Friday the Armenian National Assembly’s Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs made a decision to propose Deputy Justice Minister Arman Tatoyan’s candidacy for the position of ombudsman.

Seven voted in favor and four against the proposal out of 12 members of the Committee.
Five supported Zaruhi Postanjyan’s candidacy.

Narek Aloyan, who was proposed by Tigran Urikhanyan of the opposition Prosperous Armenia faction, received two votes in favor.

The National Assembly will officially field Tatoyan’s candidacy at its upcoming plenary session.
Each member of the Committee is entitled to support simultaneously more than one candidate.
