What happened to  Armenian people is Genocide-Bundestag’s Vice-President

RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov, on an official visit to Berlin on February 26, had a meeting with the Vice -President of the German Parliament Edelgard Bulmani.

The sides stressed the importance of the joint efforts for the activation of the inter-parliamentary cooperation and contacts.

As an effective method was mentioned the mutual visits of parliamentary friendship groups, as well as the organization of mutual visits on the level of different commissions.

NA Vice President referred to the strengthening of peace and stability in the region, noting that the conflict should be resolved peacefully according to the OSCE Minsk Group format.

According to the “Armenpress”, Sharmazanov regarded the Azerbaijani attempts to attach religious coloring to the Artsakh conflict to be inadmissible.

Edelgard Bulmane agreed with the Vice President of the National Assembly and stressed the importance of exclusively peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The NA Vice President expressed hope that the German parliament will soon adopt a draft resolution on the Armenian Genocide.

The Bundestag Vice-President stressed that what happened to Armenians is Genocide, which should be condemned.

Edelgard Bulmane added that the discussions on the draft resolution on the Armenian Genocide recognition which took place on the eve in the Bundestag, are already a positive signal in the process of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

At the end of the meeting, the NA Vice -President invited his counterpart to make an official visit to Armenia.
