Diplomat’s error may be fatal for country- Arman Navasardyan

If a doctor or a field engineer errs, it may pose a threat to human life, while a diplomat’s error may be fatal for a whole country and its people, a retired Armenian diplomat said today, attaching importance to the seriousness and role of the profession.

“Diplomacy is the foreign policy’s tool, while the latter stems from the domestic policy.

Hence, foreign policy has a mission to not only resolve foreign policy challenges but also handle domestic policy affairs,” Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Arman Navasardyan said at a news conference devoted to the Diplomat’s Day.

Agreeing that Armenia’s foreign policy is now focused on three major areas (Nagorno-Karabakh issues, Armenia-Turkey relations and Armenian Genocide), the diplomat said he thinks that the scope should be broadened to address also other key issues enumerated earlier by the President of the Republic.

“Diplomacy must by all means address the financial problems in the country, its agriculture, education and everything else. Diplomacy has a task to serve the country’s interests,” he added.
