Armenia to negotiate on preferential gas prices supplied by Russia

By means of a new protocol on amendments to an Armenian-Russian gas agreement, Armenia set the gas price for Armenia at US $165 per 1,000 cubic meters for a short period to conduct negotiations for easier terms, Armenia’s Deputy Minister FM Shahvarsh Kocharyan told reporters as he commented on the government-approved draft decision.

“The gas price remains unchanged for us to negotiate easier terms,” he said.

Armenia’s government has approved a draft accepting a proposal for signing a protocol on amendments to an Armenian-Russian intergovernmental agreement signed on December 2, 2013.

Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Joseph Isayan said that Armenia applied to Russia for a revision of the gas price for Armenia.

“Since the negotiations are in progress, we reached an agreement to leave the price unchanged,” he said.

Thus, the gas price for Armenia will remain unchanged until the end of this March.
