Unlike Kosovo Karabakh not linked to principle of territorial integrity-Eduard Sharmazanov

Head of the Armenian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA) Eduard Sharmazanov on March 10 received in the framework of an outgoing session of the CSTO the head of the Serbian delegation to the CSTO Milovan Dretsun and deputy chairman of the Serbian Parliament Verolyub Arsich.

Eduard Sharmazanov has noted that the relations between the two countries are developing orderly but there is a great potential for further development of these relations.

The head of the Armenian delegation has noted that the Armenian and Serbian peoples have a number of similarities: the two nations now live in independent states and they are united by Christian values.

The sides have also touched upon the Nagorno-Karabakh and Kosovo’s issue settlements.

Speaking of the issue on Nagorno-Karabakh, Eduard Sharmazanov noted that it greatly differs from Kosovo’s issue.

Unlike Kosovo, Nagorno-Karabakh has nothing to do with the principle of territorial integrity, as it has never been part of Azerbaijan.

Eduard Sharmazanov re-assured that Armenia considers the conflict settlement solely by peaceful means within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.

“There is no alternative to self-determination of the people of Karabakh and Nagorno-Karabakh can not ever have a lower status than it has today,” he concluded.
