CIS will carry out anti-terror exercise in 2014

The CIS member states will carry out a joint anti-terror exercise in 2014. The preparation for the exercise will be discussed at a meeting of heads of national counter-terrorism centers of the CIS member states that will be held in Moscow on 12 February, BelTA informs referring to the press service of the CIS Anti-Terrorist Center.

The CIS Anti-Terrorist Center will hold the 7th session of the heads of national counter-terrorism centers in Moscow on 11-12 February 2014. Top on the agenda will be the joint effort to combat terrorism and other violent manifestations of extremism.

An international conference “International cooperation in combating high-tech terrorism: problems and solutions” will take place during the 19th international forum Security Technologies on the first day of the session. The forum will be arranged by the CIS Anti-Terrorist Center and the Russian Foreign Ministry.

On 12 February the CIS Anti-Terrorist Center will host a session of heads of national counter-terrorism centers. They will discuss concerted effort to prevent terrorist attacks during mass sports events and improvement of the interstate search. They will also review the results of the Tral-Antiterror 2013 special operation and assess modern-day challenges and threats related to terrorism and extremism.

“The conduct of the joint anti-terror exercise of the CIS member states and a joint command post rehearsal will be discussed separately,” the press service informed.

Invitations to take part in the two-day events were sent to security services and special operations units of the 11 CIS member states, including Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine, as well as the CIS Executive Committee, Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and other organizations, representatives of international and regional organizations, like the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Executive Committee of the Regional Counter-Terrorism Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, foreign diplomats, leading experts and scientists.
