Armenian Composers’ Art Festival: the piano compositions by Edgar Hovhannisyan have been presented

The next concert held within the framework of the 6th Armenian Composers’ Art Festival, dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the famous Armenian composer Edgar Hovhannisyan took place on January 30 at the Aram Khachaturian House-Museum.

The event is being implemented jointly by the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia and the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Armenia, it is held under the patronage of the President of the RA Serzh Sargsyan and supported by the Ministry of Culture of the RA.

During the evening the soloists Anahit Dilbaryan, Vardan Gyodakyan, Armen Babakhanian and Roman Namalyan presented the piano compositions by Edgar Hovhannisyan. Being a perfect piano player himself, the author managed to reveal all the technical and acoustic capabilities of the instrument.

The pianist Armen Babakhanian highlighted the special importance and even the necessity of the Armenian Composers’ Art Festival. “The Armenian music school has always been famous for its outstanding and fantastic composers. But, unfortunately, some of their works are forgotten nowadays. In this regard, I welcome the initiative of this Festival, which gives the listener, especially the young one, an opportunity to enjoy the pieces by our great compatriots. Edgar Hovhannisyan’s piano compositions occupy their special scheme not only in Armenian, but also in the whole world music culture. Undoubtedly, he is an exceptional talent and the World Musician!”,- said Armen Babakhanian.
