Global Forum “Against the crime of Genocide” kicks off in Yerevan

The global forum “Against the crime of Genocide” kicked off in Yerevan on April 22 and will run through April 23 with 600 individuals from more than 50 countries participating. RA president Serzh Sargsyan will deliver opening remarks. ArmenianGenocide100.org web-site informs about this. 

Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Galust Sahakyan, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan, Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland, President of the International Association of Genocide scholars Daniel Feierstein will deliver speeches.

Issues concerning the development of means of prevention of crimes against humanity in international law, elimination of consequences of genocide and liability concerns will be discussed during the forum.

Plenary session “Parliamentarians against Genocide” is scheduled to be convened, with representatives of Parliament delegations giving speeches.

Well-known experts of international law Luis Moreno Ocampo, Geoffrey Robertson, member of the Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) party, General councilor of Hauts-de-Seine Patrick Devedjian, founder and CEO of the Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust (HART), Baroness Caroline Cox, National Hero of Armenia, Chairman of the Federation Council Commission on Natural Monopolies, a member of the Committee on Local Self-Governance and as co-chairman of the Russian–Armenian commission on inter-parliamentary cooperation Nikolai Ryzhkov will co-chair the sessions.

Prominent experts of international law, famous historians, genocide scholars, including William Shabas, Israel W. Charny, Ragip Zarakolu, Michael Bohlander, Donna-Lee Frieze, Donald Bloxham, Roger W. Smith, Henry Theriault, Patrick Dumberry, Cengiz Aktar, Esther Mujawayo, Yair Auron will deliver remarks.
