V. Putin: April 24, 1915 was a mournful date
Russia stands against any forms of genocide and calls on the international community to condemn them, Russian President Vladimir Putin wrote in his speech addressed to the attendees of the commemoration evening “World without Genocide”. Kremlin official website informs about this. The message reads:
April 24, 1915 was a mournful date connected to one of the most horrible and dramatic events in human history – the Armenian Genocide.
A century later we bow to the memory of all the victims of the tragedy, which we have always perceived as our own pain and grief in our country.
Russia’s position has been and remains objective and consistent: mass extermination on the grounds of nationality can never be justified. The international community must do everything to ensure that such atrocities never ever happen again. New generations of Armenians and other peoples of the region must live in peace and harmony, without ever facing horrors that result from the incitement of religious hatred, aggressive nationalism and xenophobia.
I wish brotherly Armenia and all the Armenians living in Russia peace and prosperity.
Eternal memory to the victims.”
