The Armenian orphans in the refugee camps on Syria: photo

A series of the Armenian orphans is depicted in the photograph. Each of them has per diem bread in their hands.

Leopold Kashchik, Karen Jeppe’s Polish colleague, is the author of the photograph. By Jeppe’s assignment the latter was taking photos of the Armenian refugee camps of Aleppo. Official web-site of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute informs about this. 

Karen Jeppe attached similar photos to her letters in order to receive humanitarian aid and financial support from the political organizations for the Armenian orphans sheltered in Syria and elsewhere.

Jeppe kept correspondence with different agencies of the League of Nations, such as the Assembly, the Council, the Secretary-General, the Commissions dealing with the Armenian question and migration issues, and with other structures.

In her letters she represented the dire situation of migrants and highlighted the necessity of the financial, moral and even political assistance and support.

The organization “Danish Friends of Armenians” (she was also a member of this structure) responded to Jeppe’s pro-Armenian activity providing financial support.

“In order to slightly improve the dire situation in the big camp of Ram, we decided to provide 400 children and girls of the same camp with hot meals at midday.”
