Russian military expert says reinforcing Armenia’s security will guarantee regional stability

Russia is fortifying Armenia’s security to make sure its strategic ally can resist the regional threats and dangers, a Russian military expert reported, commenting on the country’s current efforts to re-equip its military base in Gyumri.

“The re-equipment of the military base will give us confidence and assurance there will be no security hazards and that any act of aggression will be reacted adequately,” Igor Korotchenko reported.

Highlighting Russia’s current tense relations with Turkey, he reported he finds the country to pose a real threat to Armena’s security.

He is confident that the military base re-equipment is mutually benefical both for Armenia and Russia.

Korotchenko was asked if there are possible plans to use the military base’s resources in Russian’s current military operation in Syria and he excluded such a development, saying Russia has enough military force to resolve possible challenge.
