Bomb blast in Pakistan

As police and local officials report at least 7 people have been killed in a bomb blast close to a police checkpoint in north-western Pakistan.

The blast took place in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) on the outskirts of Peshawar.

About 20 people were also injured in the blast.

No one has yet said they carried out the attack.

The bomb was detonated near Peshawar’s Karkhano Market.

As eyewitnesses reported the bomb was planted on a motorbike – but it is not clear yet whether it was a suicide blast or remotely controlled explosion.

At least 26 people were also killed in a suspected suicide attack at a government office in north-western Pakistan last month.

The attack was one of the deadliest since the December 2014 massacre by the Taliban of 150 pupils and teachers in Peshawar.
