Armenian-populated village in Latakia libeated

As it was reported by Kantsasar paper citing Syrian mass media several settlements in Latakia province, including Armenian-populated village Ghnemiye, were liberated by the Syrian army.

It’s residents left the village 4 years ago when armed militant groups entered the area.

Ghnemiye was populated by Armenians.

The village has an Armenian church, Surb Gevorg Church built in 1875.

According to elderly local residents, the church was actually reconstructed in 1875, but at that time it was already 300-year-old.
