Economic development key factor to resist existing challenges- Tevan Poghosyan

Armenia must give the necessary attention to the development of the economy, as it is the key factor to resist the existing challenges in Armenia, an opposition lawmaker from the Heritage party, Tevan Poghisyan told the reporters at a news conference.

“We need to understand that the most important thing is economy’s strengthening and liberalization,” he said.

Commenting on the domestic political agenda, Poghosyan said he expects different developments preparing ground for the 2017 parliamentary election.

He also mentioned external challenges, citing the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as a major unresolved issue.

“The Karabakh conflict is going to be the most important issue; so we need to be prepared for different scenarios,” he added.

As for the EU-Armenia relations, the opposition MP said he expects the new cooperation document to be finally signed to give Armenia better chances to develop democracy institutions.
