Erdogan’s statement that Russia occupied part of Syria is absurd-Peskov
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's statement that Russia had occupied a part of Syria is an absurd from the standpoint of international law. This was stated by the Russian President's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, reports "Armenpress" citing TASS.
“As of Erdogan’s statement (February 7, in the interview he gave to Bloomberg agency), that Russia occupies a part of Syria, there are not true from international law as well as legal point of view, it’s an absurd,” he said.
Peskov explaine that the Russian forces are in Syria because of the country’s invitation.
"Accordingly, there simply can be no occupation of any de jure or de facto," he added.
