NATO control system aircrafts sent to Syria

Defense Ministers of NATO member countries have confirmed the fact that the control system aircrafts (AWACS) have been sent to Syria under the command of the US coalition, which is fighting against the terrorist organization “Islamic State,” reports “Armenpress”, citing NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberge, who summed up the alliance’s defense ministers’ meeting held in Brussels.

“Sending NATO AWACS aircrafts means that the US is able to withdraw its AWACS planes, other means of control as well as the monitoring of the situation,” said Stoltenberge.

“It is to strengthen the capabilities of NATO strikes at the IP’s position in Syria,” he added.
