Saakashvili demanded to end Ukraine’s cooperation with IMF

The head of the Odessa region of Ukraine Mikheil Saakashvili made the statement in favor of terminating the cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), said the former President on ‘Era’ radio station live, reprts “Armenpress”.

“It would be the ideal situation for us if the IMF is not be here at all.

It took a year to withdraw the IMF from Georgia.

We are released, and, thanks God, “said Saakashvili.

According to him, the Fund constantly monitors the government’s actions and has a negative impact on it.

On February 10, the IMF’s Managing Director Christine Lagarde said that Ukraine has not achieved sufficient progress in the process of fighting against corruption, therefore the financial assistance program may be terminated.

“I am concerned about the slow progress of the fighting against corruption in Ukraine and the improvement of management,” Lagarde said, noting that in such conditions it is “difficult to predict whether the IMF development program will continue and succeed or not”.
