National Program for Educational Excellence to develop educational level-Levon Mkrtchyan

Armenian Minister of Education and Science Levon Mkrtchyan held a working meeting with the administrative staff of the Ayb Educational Foundation headed by Mesrob Aramyan.

According to the Ministry of Education and Science of Public Relations and Information Department, during the meeting the National Programs for Educational Excellence and Ararat Bachelor ’s Degree Program.

According to Mr. Aramyan the Ararat Bachelor’s Degree Program is a national program, which is currently regarded as a pilot program of alternative education that meets government standards and based on the world educational excellence platforms (an equivalent of A-level) and it has an important national feature.

The NPEE’s role in the development of Armenia’s education system was stressed by Mr. Mkrtchyan.

“The NPEE’s integration into the general education system is supposed to raise the general education level, which is not less important than the program itself.

The program must be the engine of the education system’s development.

It must lead the entire education system to serve the purpose proper.

We have to ensure professional consensus on the program for it to afford serious opportunities for educational development”, Mr Mkrtchyan said.

School selection, funding, mutual recognition of examination results and compatibility were also under consideration.

Minister Levon Mkrtchyan ordered the formation of a joint workgroup to draft the standards for pilot school projects under the NPEE.
