Armenia to continue its close military cooperation with Russia- Edward Nalbandian

Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian stated that Armenia is to continue its close military and military-technical cooperation with Russia, reports “Armenpress”, citing the “Kommersant” newspaper.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Maria Zakharova, commenting on the Azerbaijani note of protest regarding the supply of arms to Armenia, announced that the Russian supply of arms to both Azerbaijan and Armenia is carried out taking into account the need for strict observance of the balance of forces in the region.

“In recent years Azerbaijan has increased its military spending.

We have strategic relations with Russia, a close military, as well as military-technical cooperation.

It is not a secret that we purchase arms from our strategic partner and we will continue to have a close cooperation with Russia in military terms, “said Armenia’s Foreign Minister, commenting on the statement made by Zakharova.

According to the Minister, Russia as one of the largest manufacturers of weapons, sells it to various countries, it is natural.

But the fact that Azerbaijan buys weapons at the same time threatening to unleash a new war is not a “matter of rapture” for Armenia.

“ We don’t like the fact that arms are purchased from our ally, which is making efforts to cooperate with Armenia, including the CSTO,” said Nalbandian.
