‘Southern Gas Corridor’ to be profitable in 2030-Minister

“Southern Gas Corridor” and “Shah Deniz-2” projects which transport gas to Europe from Azerbaijan via territories of Georgia and Turkey, are to become profitable in 2030, Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Natig Aliyev said in an interview with Natural Gaz Europe, reports “Armenpress”.

“Azerbaijan considers the “Shah Deniz 2”, TANAP- (the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline) and is TAP- (Adriatic pipeline) as a single project.

Capital expenditure on “Shah Deniz-2″ is estimated to be $ 20 billion, the expenditure on the “Southern Gas Corridor” is of $ 25 billion”, he said.

The minister noted that according to estimate, based on the expected price of oil and gas, the revenue of the projects Shah Deniz 2″ and “Southern Gas Corridor” will exceed the expense in 2028-2030.

According to him, 10 billion cubic meters of gas through the “Southern Gas Corridor” , is to be transported to Europe from the Caspian region via territories of Georgia and Turkey.

The gas of the “Shah Deniz 2” mine is to be transported to Turkey and European countries through the expansion of the South Caucasus pipeline and construction of TANAP and TAP gas pipelines.

Azerbaijani expert- economist Natig Jafarli told musavat.com that various distressing news are already circulating in Azerbaijan in connection with these projects.

“Both options are negative for Azerbaijan.

If we sell our share in the future we will not have the right of freedom of expression in these projects.

The given loan will be of greater percentage due to the current state of Azerbaijan.

In the future we will have to pay the revenue as a percentage”, said economist.
