Serzh Sargsyan holds meeting with representatives of Armenian community in Greece

Serzh Sargsyan on Monday met with representatives of Greek-Armenian community in Athens.

He noted that State-building is a joint responsibility that requires endless devotion and solidarity on the part of each and every of us.

“A state, like our families, needs daily care.

Whatever is positive or negative in our state is reflected in our selves; we cannot attribute the positive to ourselves, estranging the negative, or highlight gaps without noticing achievements.

We are the architects of state – each of us with his or her endless devotion and we together with our unanimous and joint work,” he said.

Mr Sargsyan highlighted that over the past 25 years since gaining independence, Armenia has seen considerable success, which he said makes its future progress inevitable.

“Despite the difficulties, in this quarter of a century since our independence, we have had success that makes our path to development irrevocable.

We have built democracy institutions and a civil society and created pre-requisites for the economy’s development.

Over these 25 years, our country became a full-fledged member of the international community, bringing its modest contribution to international peace and security maintenance.

Thanks to balanced, transparent and consistent foreign policies, we have been able to avoid a serious geopolitical turmoil, establishing a mutually beneficial partnership with different powers in our region,” he said, calling for further more consistent efforts to continue the state-building.

Referring to the recent constitutional referendum, the president said he has great expectations from the changes made in the country’s basic law.

“With these changes, we are embarking on a qualitatively new round of development which, in my deepest conviction, will largely contribute to a wider political involvement in the efforts towards solving the problems facing the country and prepare a breeding ground for making life more favorable and secure for our future generations.

Feeling stronger with the [experience of the] 25 years of independence, we are looking to the future with faith today, not concealing our vices.

We are taking specific steps for a progress,” the president added.
