Ali Lariani: the thee-stage plan proposed by the Syrian government needs proper security grounds
Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said the thee-stage plan proposed by the Syrian government needs proper security grounds to be implemented in an appropriate manner. Iranian state news agency IRNA writes about this.
Addressing the Tuesday morning open session of the Iranian Parliament, he said the countries intervening in Syrian affairs are now facing another sensitive test.
He said the plan indicates the firm determination of the Syrian government to bring about serious political changes to the country.
Stressing that the plan put forward by the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has the capacity to settle the crisis in the country, the speaker noted that the plan in fact offers the final word to the countries which are carrying out adventurous plans in Syria.
Expressing that the three-stage plan will put Syria in the track of elections, he said it will also lead to a situation where the will of the Syrian nation would determine the destiny of the country.
Larijani further warned the countries intervening in Syria, saying that any kind of opposition to the plan will mean fanning the flames of war aimed at halting establishment of democracy in Syria.
The speaker voiced Majlis support for any reformist measures based on votes of people and said solid steps are taken to materialize the Syrian government’s proposed plan.
Referring to the adventurous behaviors of some western and regional countries in Syria, he noted that Iran has always believed that democratic reforms in Syria have to take place in accordance with the will of its nation and convergence of different groups.
This, he said, needs a proper security ground.
Stressing that certain countries have helped extend insecurity in Syria by sending arms to the country which has inflicted heavy financial and human damage, Larijani said such countries should understand that hatching plots and sending arms and forces to Syria could change nothing in the country.
