French Ambassador: The EU aims to keep strong ties with Armenia

Armenia is the strong counterpart of the Eastern Partnership and Armenia ensured its readiness to continue the cooperation also after joining the European Economic Community. Henry Reynaud, the Ambassador of France to Armenia, who completes his four-year diplomatic mission in Armenia, announced about this during the press conference today. He was answerring to the question whether according to him it was possible for Armenia to sign the Association agreement after joining the EEC.  

“Further cooperation plans between Armenia and the EU is presented in the document signed during the Vilnius summit, and the Armenia-EU further cooperation directions are presented there very clearly”, the Ambassador underlined and reminded that french President Hollande spoke about French attitude towards the issue during his visit to Armenia. Especially, Armenia must be given an opportunity to sign the Association Agreement and do not foreget about those priority or reason which forced Armenia to join the EEC.  

“I consider this was a straight and important announcement, without any double meanings, and it was understood both in Armenia and out of its borders”, the Ambassador underlined and ensured that the EU aims to keep strong ties with Armenia, so the latter has promising future.
