Armenian and French MFAs met: Nalbandian invited Fabius to visit Armenia

July 24 Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian met with his French counterpart Loran Fabius. Press and information department of the Armenian MFA informs about this. Minister on French issues abroad Elen Convay-Murret also attended the meeting.

Welcoming Armenian MFA French Minister of Foreign Affairs said that the meeting was a good opportunity to conclude the achievements of the bilateral relations and to give a new stimulus to Armenian-French cooperation.

Edward Nalbandian thanked for the warm acceptance and underlined that Armenia and France had special relations which are traditionally based on friendship. He added that during the twenty-year diplomatic ties bilateral relations have been developed and some high –level visits took place. Armenian and French Presidents paid bilateral official visits.

“Both countries have high-level political dialogue. French investors are the second in Armenia, 160 French organizations work in Armenia. We have active cooperation also in economic and scientific spheres”, Ed. Nalbandian underlined.

Both Ministers of Foreign Affairs spoke about further steps to develop relations on various spheres.

The officials also discussed some regional and international issues of bilateral interest. In this context the Ministers underlined with satisfaction that Armenian and French attitudes coincide on some international issues.

Edward Nalbandian and Loran Fabius discussed Armenian-French cooperation in frame of the international organizations. Armenia-

EU relations and programs in frame of those relations were on agenda. Minister Nalbandian presented the progress on Association agreement, Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Zone negotiations.

Cooperation in frame of the Francophone international organization was discussed as well.

NK issue settlement process was on agenda as well. Edward Nalbandian once more appreciated French involvement in OSCE MG and reconfirmed Armenian readiness to continue negotiations and to reach the peace solution of the issue.
Some other international issues such as Iranian nuclear program and Middle East developments were touched upon.
