Tigran Sargsyan: “Armenian Genocide issue and Nagorno-Karabakh conflict are connected”

Issues of Armenian Genocide recognition and the NK conflict are connected with each other. Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said about this while speaking with the Russian “Izvestia” magazine. He commented on Armenian-Turkish relations and added that every Armenian family was in touch with the Genocide.

“My grandfathers also survived from the Genocide on 1915. All our life is connected with these memories. My grandfather lost the whole family, he was the youngest one. So, Armenian Genocide and Nagorno-Karabakh conflict are connected”, he underlined.

T. Sargsyan also added that the international society must recognize Armenian Genocide and the guilty ones must be punished.
“We try to keep inside our emotions towards the Armenian Genocide. And that is why our President launched negotiations without Turkey in order to gain the diplomatic relations without any preconditions. The European Union, Russia, the USA have assisted us and the protocols were signed in Switzerland”, the PM said.

He also underlined that Armenian authorities were pressed much, especially by the Armenian Diaspora. “Armenian Diaspora was against any negotiations. But after signing the protocols Armenian authority raised up as a reliable counterpart”, T. Sargsyan said.
Tigran Sargsyan also underlined that the ball now is in Turkish field.
