Raffi Hovhannisyan started his campaign from Yerevan

The candidate for the presidency of the Republic of Armenia Raffi K. Hovannisian’s campaign was launched at Yerevan’s France Square on January 21. He addressed his fellow citizens who are devoted to “New Armenia”. Raffi Hovannisian Election Headquarters informs about this. “We are entering into a decisive phase that is a struggle between today’s and tomorrow’s Armenias, between light and darkness, and between truths and lies… This is a struggle that I will not carry on alone but we will do it all together. Once and together—in favor of Armenia that we dream of,” maintained Hovannisian.

Earlier in the day, Raffi Hovannisian sent a letter to the incumbent president of the RA Serzh Sargsyan aimed at proposing the implementation of the following measures for the realization of Sargsyan’s stated commitment to hold free and fair elections in February 2013:

1. Removal of any party’s emblem, sign, poster or name reference from city halls, village and community prefectures, cultural centers, universities, schools, and all other public buildings and spaces;

2. Identification and strictest punishment of all violators of the electoral law regardless of their official capacities or party positions;

3. Ruling out of any activity of the National Security Service and the Police of the RA related to “accompanying” the presidential candidate, which is aimed at imposing an anti-civil atmosphere of fear and servility among the citizens who attend the meetings;

4. Hovannisian’s official invitation for a television debate extended to Sargsyan.
