Politician: “Elections in Armenia will be ended in one round”

The second round the presidential election will not take place in Armenia. Current President Serzh Sargsyan will be reelected, politician Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan considers.

“I think no one has any doubts that Armenian current President is the favorite of these elections. He has won his main rivals before the main pre-electoral campaign. I am sure that the elections will be ended with one round”, H. Melik-Shahnazaryan told “Interfax” news agency.

At the same time the politician noted that this never means the other candidates must lose.

“Actually, despite of the results of the elections the candidates have got good opportunity for active political actions and they can involve many people in their campaigns. S. Sargsyan will be reelected as the President, “Heritage” party leader will restore the authority of the party, Hrant Bagratyan, leader of the “Freedom” policy will become an independent figure and will deny the shadow of Levon Ter-Petrosyan”, the politician said.

The politician also informed that the candidates consider the pre-electoral campaign is another new opportunity for them. “After the elections those forces which refused to participate in the elections will start activities. The main struggle between the political parties will start after elections. The struggle for the second place and for the role of the opposition will take place”, H. Melik-Shahnazaryan said.
