Bako Sahakyan visited Shahoumyan region

On 5 April Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan visited the Shahoumyan region and partook at a festive event dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Karvachar’s liberation.

President Sahakyan handed in state awards to a group of veterans of Artsakh Liberation War, servicemen of the Defense Army and local residents for defending the Fatherland, contributing to the development of the republic’s socioeconomic sphere. Central Information Department of the Office of the Artsakh Republic President informs about this.

In his speech the Head of the State noted that the liberation of Karvachar is a great holiday not only for the Shahumyan region and Artsakh, but for the world spread Armenians that a key military, political and psychological role for the Armenian people and our independent statehood. According to the President underlined it is hard to overestimate strategic importance of Shahoumyan region, which is among the crucial components ensuring military, social and water security of the Artsakh people.

Bako Sahakyan considered the development of the Shahoumyan region a national goal of strategic importance, underlining that problems of the region have been always in the spotlight of the Artsakh authorities.

Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, RA defense minister Seyran Ohanyan, members of the NKR National Assembly and the Cabinet of Ministers, as well as guests from the Republic of Armenia partook at the event.
