Victims of Sumgait massacres were commemorated at Argentine and Greece

On March 4 victims of Sumgait massacres in 1988 were commemorated at Buenos Aires St. Grigor Illuminator cathedral, press and information department of the RA Ministry of Defense informs.

After the event the participants put garlands at the monument at the church devoted to the victims of Armenian Genocide.

After it meeting took place at the church hall and the presents referred to the bloody events which took place 24 years ago and condemned the tragedy. Armenian Ambassador to Argentine Vladimir Karmirshalyan and Argentinean-Armenian well-known intellectual Petros Hajyan delivered speeches.

Memory of Sumgait massacres victims was commemorated also in Greece. On March 4 event dedicated to the memory of Sumgait events took place at Nea Zmit region, “Zangak” monument. Representatives of the Armenian Community in Greece attended the event. Holy mass was served and garlands were put at the monument. On the same day holy mass was served at St. Astvatsadzin Church in Thessalonica.
