Ed. Nalbandyan and EU officials discussed cooperation between Armenia and EU

On March 5 Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandyan participated in the meeting of the MFAs of EU Eastern Partnership countries, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and some other European countries as well. European Union‘s High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton and European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule participated in the session, press and information department of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs.

Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandyan delivered a speech during the session and presented the progress of the Armenia-EU cooperation. He underlined that 24 parts of the Association agreement have already been agreed and the negotiating process of the free trade zone establishment would soon start and it was intended to conclude in short time. Minister Nalbandyan also spoke about the reforms held in Armenia

In Prague Armenian MFA had meeting with Stefan Fule, European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy.

The sides discussed the agenda issues of Armenian President’s meetings in the European organizations, which are starting on March 6. They referred in details Armenia-EU cooperation process. NK issue was also touched upon during the meeting. Coming Parliamentarian elections in Armenia were also on agenda. Ed. Nalbandyan also referred to the EU document on the South Caucasus.

Speaking about the part of the NK issue in the document Nalbandyan especially said: “We welcome EU approach to the issue and we welcome their assistance to the OSCE MG efforts.”  

Ed. Nalbandyan also had a meeting with Catherine Ashton and Armenia-EU, regional issues were on agenda.

On the same day Nalbandyan ended the visit and left for Brussels.
