Iran is against foreign involvement in Syrian affairs: Erdogan offers Turkish support

In frame of his visit to Iran Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan also referred to the Syrian issue. As Iranian Fars news agency writes Erdogan called for a new political paradigm for Syria, but stressed that all foreign nations “should respect the will of the Syrian nation”.

Iran and Turkey should launch joint cooperation and help each other in this regard,” he reiterated.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei also spoke about the Syrian regime and announced that he categorically opposes any foreign intervention in Syria and supports Damascus for backing the resistance front against Zionist regime. Iribnews.ir writes about this.

“The Islamic Republic will defend Syria because of its support for the resistance front against the Zionist regime and is vehemently opposed to any intervention by foreign forces in Syrian internal affairs,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in a meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the holy city of Mashhad on Thursday.

The Islamic Revolution Leader also expressed Iran’s support for the reform process underway in Syria and called for the reforms’ momentum to be maintained.

Syrian clashes have started a year ago and according to the UN more that 8.000 people have already been killed as a result of the military actions. Opposition claims Syrian President Bashar al-Assad must resign but the latter stands against the pressure yet. The West supports Syrian opposition, but Russia and China support Syrian Government. These two countries prevented the UN SC sanction against Syrian Government by using their right of veto.
