Ed. Nalbandyan: “Armenian-Italian centuries-old history serve as a good basis for launching of effective cooperation”

On April 23 the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian received Guido Podestà, the President of the Province of Milan who is in Yerevan to participate in the events dedicated to the Yerevan World Book Capital 2012. Press and information department of Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs about this.

Welcoming the guest, Minister Nalbandian mentioned that the Armenian-Italian similarities have centuries-old history and serve as a good basis for launching of effective and comprehensive cooperation. The visit of the RA President to Italy last December and the agreements reached during that visit are a great proof of that.

“Armenia is interested in the enlargement and deepening of comprehensive ties with Italy. The intensified political dialogue, as well as the cooperation in trade, economic, educational, and cultural and various spheres were established between our two countries. The decentralized cooperation has an important role among them. We can mention with satisfaction that the friendly ties were established between the cities and regions of Armenia and Italy, reciprocal visit are held and joint projects are implemented which have been intensified recently,” underlined Minister Nalbandian.

The interlocutors touched upon the cooperation between the Province of Milan and Armenian Kotayk region (marz), as well as the possibilities of its enlargement. 

The sides discussed steps undertaken towards the expansion of the economic interaction, stressing the economic potential of the Province of Milan. In particular the sides mutually highlighted the positive contribution of the Armenian-Italian community in the Armenian-Italian relations.
