L. Almagro: “Uruguayan nation has the warmest attitude toward Armenia and Armenian nation”

Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandyan met today Uruguayan Minister of Foreign Affairs Luis Almagro who is in Armenia on Ed. Nalbandyan’s invitation. Press and information department of RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs about this.

Minister Nalbandyan welcomed the guest and said:

“Armenia and Uruguay are far from each other from thousands of kilometers but Uruguay is the first country which recognized Armenian Genocide yet on 1965. And it is not accidental that You have started Your official visit just from the Tsitsernakaberd. We are thankful to Uruguayan nation and the Government as they opened their doors for our compatriots who hardly managed to reach there. And we are thankful for thousands Armenians who live in Uruguay and which has become a second Motherland for them. We are connected by really warm and close ties”.  

Luis Almegro thanked for the warm acceptance and underlined that Uruguayan nation has the warmest attitude toward Armenia and Armenian nation. He noted that the important role of the Armenian Community in his country proves his words.  

During the meeting the sides discussed in details the issues of bilateral interests and also referred to the regional and international affairs.

Both Ministers agreed to make efforts to strengthen ties in frame of the international organizations and the political dialogue.

NK issue settlement was also on agenda. Both sides underlined that the issue could have only a peace solution.

After the meeting both Ministers held a joint press conference.
