International Museum Day and “Museum night”: Armenia celebrates both festivals

Today is the International Museum Day, a celebration that is held each year on 18 May. Each year, the Advisory Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) defines a specific theme for International Museum Day. The day is celebrated in more than 150 countries of the world. Armenia also participates in the festival. Today Armenian museums will be free on 11:00-18:00.

Tomorrow the world celebrates “Museum nights” and this event is marked in Armenia as well. Armenian museums will be free on 18:00-24:00 and various programs are presented on the occasion.

European Union announced this year as “Museum in the changing world” but “Museum night” will be held by the headline “Book in the changing world” in Armenia. This headline is connected with the 500^th anniversary of Armenian publishing and Yerevan World Book Capital 2012.
