PACE reports on various monitoring: Armenia is also on agenda

PACE hold committees on Political Affairs and Democracy and Monitoring on May 28-June 2. As the official web-site of the organization informs the meeting of the committee on Political Affairs will focus on a wide range of issues, including the crisis of democracy and the role of the state in today`s Europe, the rise of populist extremism in Europe and its dangers for democracy, the situation in Kosovo, activities of the European Bank for Research and Development, activities of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, political transition in Tunisia, counteraction to manifestations of neo-Nazism and xenophobia.

On May 31 the committee is due to approve a report on the honoring of obligations and commitments by Montenegro, and another on the general progress of the Assembly’s monitoring procedure. It will also hold a closed-door hearing on the situation in the Russian Federation with the participation of members of the YABLOKO and PARNAS/Republican Parties, as well as the Mayor of Yaroslavl and a representative of Russian civil society. The co-rapporteurs for the monitoring of Ukraine will report on their recent visit to the country. Also on the agenda: the monitoring procedures in respect of Georgia, Armenia, Serbia, Albania and Azerbaijan, and post-monitoring dialogue with Monaco and “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”.
