UN-Arab League envoy to Syria Kofi Annan planned to meet with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the capital, Damascus. Iranian Press TV informs about this.
During the meeting, which is scheduled later on Tuesday, Annan will discuss the situation in Syria with President Assad.
The former UN chief arrived in Damascus on Monday and held talks with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem and the head of the UN observer mission in Syria, Major General Robert Mood.
This is not the first visit to Syria. Annan also visited Damascus and met with the Syrian president and other senior officials in March.
K. Annan is UN and Arab League joint Ambassador to Syria and has a task to stop the bloodshed in the country.
Clashes in Syria started last year, on March and are going on will now. Thousands people have been killed as a result of military actions.
