T. Margaryan: “Yerevan Municipality has given no permission for the constructive works in Closed Market”

Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan made an announcement yesterday on the destructions of Closed Market. Taron Margaryan wrote in his Facebook page:

“Respective citizens,

I have got information from various media representatives and from Facebook social network about the destructions in Closed Markt, Mashtots Avenue. I want to inform you that Yerevan Municipality has given no permission for the constructive works there.

The owner of the building restored it as the building could be destroyed completely. So the restorations aimed to strengthen the building.

Professional group of the Yerevan municipality and Armenian Ministry of Culture had worked in the territory during the whole day. They will make some conclusions as a result of the studies and after it the further steps will be decided. After conclusions appropriate information will be provided”.

Remind that Armenian Parliament deputy Samvel Alexanyan has bought the market and he is going to construct the next Yerevan City” supermarket here as well.

“Save Closed Market” initiative spread an announcement on May 27 midnight which told the roof of the Yerevan Closed Market on Mashtots Avenue is destroyed.

“Vandalism is going on in the Mashtots Avenue, Closed Marked. Though the officials ensured that the constructions are stopped in the market but yesterday in the evening the architectural monument of Yerevan was damaged for the next time”, the announcement said. Activists gathered at the Closed Market yesterday to decide further actions. They announced meetings at the Closed Market would go on.
