Turkish expert considers Azerbaijan is also guilty for the failure of Armenian-Turkish relations’ normalization

Azerbaijani factor plays main role in failure of attempts to normalize Armenian-Turkish relations. Mensur Aqgyuni, director of the Center of World Political Developments announced about this during the “Round table” in Yerevan.

“Yes, Azerbaijan has had great influence on calling back the protocols and the reason is clear: Azerbaijan is an economical country, we get natural gas and oil from there and there are Turkish investments in this state. Besides this, we speak in the same language”, the Turkish speaker explained and added that NK issue settlement would assist the normalization of relations between two countries.

The discussion is called “Media role in normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations in the current round” and will last for two days. The discussion is organized by Eurasia cooperation foundation and Center of World Political Developments.

M. Akgyuni noted at the same time that the cooperation between two countries is activated. “The protocols should come to life. They present interests of both countries. And if they are forgotten so it will be really bad. I hope that both sides will have enough courage”.

Besides Azerbaijani factor the Turk speaker also noted Armenian Genocide as a reason which obstacles for the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations. According to him there is a great advantage on this issue in Turkey. In the past the theme of Genocide was completely closed topic in Turkey.

”We knew that Armenians killed Turks before, but today the opposite opinion is discussed widely. Hrant Dink presented this opinion and that is why tragedy occurred with him”.

Head of the Eurasia cooperation foundation Gevorg Ter-Gabrielyan noted in his turn that a special group of Armenian and Turkish media representatives was in Armenian and Turkish various regions before this event.

G. Ter-Gabrielyan also underlined the importance to organize event just now when Hilary Clinton visits the region. So, she will be informed that some joint events are organized thought the process of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations is frozen.
