Expert: the evaluation by PACE mission concerning elections in Armenia is a little bit subjective

Pre-electoral campaign in Armenia started since January 21. The Presidential election in Armenia will take place on February 18.

PACE observing mission has already been in Armenia and the mission members have already noted some omissions during the pre-electoral period. According to them the society is not much interested in election and there are some problems concerning the lists of electors. Panarmenian.net informs about this.

Head of the International Center of the Electoral Systems (ICES) Alexander Zinker the evaluation by the PACE observing mission does not connected with the reality completely and it is a little bit subjective.

“We have already made an observation and we can say that the Central Electoral Committee and the leading party want to have legal elections. The lists of the electors are presented at the CEC official web-site”, Zinker said.

“The elections will be competitive. The presence of Raffi Hovhannisyan, Paruyr Hayrikyan and Hrant Bagratyan shows that the elections will be competitive”, ICES mission member John Swales considers.
