The twelfth day at Liberty Square: And everywhere we shall struggle”

On the twelfth day of his hunger strike, standing before representatives of the media at Liberty Square, Raffi K. Hovannisian renewed his commitment to the great national awakening currently in progress in the Republic of Armenia. Raffi Hovhannisyan headquarters informs about this.

“We are everywhere,” Hovannisian declared. “And everywhere we shall struggle. We shall gather on the streets. We shall take part in elections. And very soon, I pledge to you, the authorities shall be made to understand that the people will not go away—the citizens of Armenia have already declared their victory.”

With this preface, Hovannisian called on his spokesman Hovsep Khurshudyan to unveil the highly anticipated municipal elections list—a wide-reaching coalition called “Barev Yerevan”—which the Barevolution movement submitted today to the Central Election Commission.

The leader of the list—and thus the movement’s mayoral candidate—is Armen Martirosyan.

What follows is an unprecedented team of political, civic, and cultural leaders, including A1+ director Mesrob Movsesyan, former school principal and MP Anahit Bakhshyan, singer-intellectual Arthur Ispiryan, and citizens across all categories who have dedicated themselves to taking back the capital and bringing the people’s victory to Yerevan.

The political parties included in the coalition are as follows: Heritage, Democratic Fatherland, Democratic Way, Conservative, and Shrjadardz. The Hask Party—which was the first, after the Heritage Party, to endorse Hovannisian’s presidential candidacy—continues to stand with the movement.

As it happened, Armen Martirosyan was the scheduled speaker at the day’s public forum at 5pm. Joined by David Sanasaryan and moderated by Levon Bagramian, the discussions turned inevitably to the municipal elections.

“I am proud to take part in this historic effort,” Martirosyan proclaimed before the citizens gathered at Liberty Square. “As we fight to bring the people to power in our capital, I shall remain always truthful and accountable before you.”

Tomorrow at 6pm, Raffi K. Hovannisian has called a major rally at Liberty Square and promised to reveal there the final demands of the Armenian people, who triumphed over their de facto authorities on February 18, 2013.
