Iranian high-level officials confirmed: Armenian-Iranian relations are bright

As it was reported earlier Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandyan visited Iran with two days official visit on April 29. In frame of his visit he met Iranian high level officials yesterday and the meetings will go on also today.  

During the meeting with Iranian Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani the latter noted that in recent years the parliaments of Iran and Armenia have backed the expansion of friendly ties between the two countries. Iranian IRNA writes about this.

 “The policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is improving relations with the regional countries and settling the disputes within the framework of negotiation and mutual understanding,” Majlis speaker added.

Referring to joint economic projects as a step forward in consolidation of economic ties between the two countries, Larijani noted that strengthening the communication between the private sectors of both countries can help the atmosphere of economic cooperation between two countries to become beneficial to nations of both countries.

He expressed optimism from the trend of progress between relations of two countries in different areas, adding that Iran and Armenia have numerous opportunities for consolidation of inter alia relations.

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian for his part said that the prospect of relations of Iran and Armenia is very bright.

Nalbandian said that parliaments of both countries play an important role in consolidation of ties between two countries.

Armenia pays heed to establishment of friendly ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all areas,” the Armenian foreign minister added.

Nalbandian underscored the role of trade and economic cooperation between Iran and Armenia for enhancement of bilateral ties

On the same day Armenian MFA met Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad as well. As Iranian MEHR news agency writes Ahmadinejad reminded Armenian official about the historical ties between two countries and rated the development of trade-economical relations.

“Since Armenia got independence 20 years ago the relations between two countries have been on high level and now it is time to expand them more”, he said.
