Zhoghovurd: Armenia’s population below 3 million

Armenia’s population has sunk below 3 million for the first time in 35 years, Official statistics reveals.

The paper notes that a total of 2,998,000 people were registered as permanent residents as of January 1, 2016, citing recent records by the National Statistical Service.

The country was known to have a population of over 3.37 million in 1979.
