Events dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide take place in Greece

On January 18, the Central Committee of Greece coordinating the holding of events dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide organized reception in “Kaluta” theatre. Press and information department of the RA Foreign Ministry informs about this.

Chairmen and heads of the political parties, religious, union, cultural structures, representatives of the Greek branch of the All-Armenian Fund, Armenian-Greek Friendship Group, Armenian-Greek Trade and Industry Chamber attended the event.

The speaker of the day Araksy Abelyan-Kolanyan on behalf of the organizational body addressed the meeting, stressing the importance of the Pan-Armenian and Pan – community essence of the events which underscores the committed and resolute position in just claims of Armenians.

In his speech the Ambassador of Armenia to Greece Gagik Ghalachyan presented the programs of State Commission on Coordination of the events dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide highlighting the importance of the upcoming events in the political sense in the context of recognition, condemnation and prevention of genocide as the most severe crime against humanity.

The representative of Central Committee of Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun Kerob Ekizyan and the representative of regional department of Armenian Democratic Liberal Party Galust Rustemyan in the name of their parties took the floor delivering the message of consolidation and unity to the attendees.

Then Araksi Abelyan-Kolanyan presented the range of events planned by Central Commission of Greece, coordinating the events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. It was highlighted that all structures and unions of community during the whole year will take various initiatives on propaganda, charity, culture, sport and environment.

With the presentation of the video clip about the symbol of the events dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was launched the cultural part of the evening, during which the attendees had the opportunity to listen to the works by Komitas, Ashugh Sherami, Aram Khachatryan, Nubar Aslanyan, Alexandr Harutyunyan. Evening was closed with With the folk dance performances the Amazgayin Nairi Dance Ensemble.
