Newly-appointed Ambassador of the ‪USA‬ hands copies of credentials to E. Nalbandian

On February 12 Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward ‪Nalbandian‬ received Richard ‪Mills‬, the newly-appointed Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Armenia, on the occasion of handing over his copies of credentials. Press and information department of the RA Foreign Ministry informs about this.

Congratulating the Ambassador on the appointment, Minister Nalbandian commending the Armenian-American cooperation, expressed hope, that Ambassador Mills would have his important input in further strengthening and expansion of bilateral relations.

Expressing gratitude for the reception and good wishes, the newly appointed Ambassador mentioned, that it was a great honour for him to represent the United States in Armenia, the development of relations with which is of particular importance to his country. He assured that he would spare no effort to move forward the multidimensional cooperation. The ‪US‬ Ambassador conveyed to Minister Nalbandian the greetings and well wishes of Secretary of State John ‪‎Kerry‬.

The sides touched upon issues on bilateral agenda, political dialogue, collaboration within different platforms, issues related to non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, fight against terrorism, military cooperation, including in the framework of peacekeeping operations.
Minister Nalbandian mentioned with satisfaction, that from Armenia’s independence on the United States significantly assisted to the development of Armenia and the on-going reform process, replacing over time assistance programs with cooperation and development ones.
The sides attached importance to agreements, reached between the Foreign Minister of Armenia and United States’ Secretary of State in 2013 on visa facilitation, which has entered into force since January 1st, 2015.

During the meeting, issues of the expansion of trade and economic relations were discussed; the work of U.S.-Armenia Joint Economic Task Force was touched upon.

The sides exchanged thoughts on activities towards drafting of Trade and Investment Framework Agreement between Armenia and the United States.

Minister Nalbandian expressed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ support to the Ambassador in the implementation of his mission.
