Turkish source: Turkey can’t join the Union in case of Armenian membership

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev announced during the Eurasian economical high council in Minsk that Turkey also wanted to join Customs Union. This announcement caused hot discussions in Turkish media. As Armenpress informs Turkish “Sabah” newspaper writes that according to Nazarbayev personally Turkish Prime Minister R. T. Erdogan announced Turkish wish to join Customs Union.

Later some Turkish sources informed that Erdogan underlined during the talks with Kazakhstan that “the membership of the Customs Union could be important for Turkey”.

“But on the other side, Turkish membership is connected with the crisis with Armenia. Turkish representatives noted that Turkey can’t join the Union in case of Armenian membership”, teh neswpaper writes.

“Sabah” notes at the same time that there is no official announcement about Turkish membership to the CU yet.
