Armenian community in Tehran held a meeting in protection of Kessab Armenians

On April 16 in the morning Armenian community in Tehran held a protest action in front of the UN office in Tehran and expressed solidarity towards the Kessab Armenians. Journalist of “Aliq” newspapre Armine Eliazyan informs about this in her report. 

According to the source, representatives of Armenian diocese in Tehran were among the protestants. They had mottos and slogans with them. 

The meeting started with the hymn of Islamic Republic of Iran and then the lawyer Talin Bandari presented the story of the attack on Kessab and then spoke about following events. 

Leader of the Armenian diocese of Tehran Sepuh Sargsyan stated that Turkey acted in the same way with Armenians 99 years ago and caused death of more than 1.5 million Armenians. “And Turkey continues its unhuman attitude by denying the genocide”, he stated. He underlined that Turkey must understand that Armenian nation is not perished and Armenians continue their struggle also today.    

Other participants of the protest also delivered speeches and condemned events in Syria. 

On the end of the meeting the participants handed a statement to the UN representative.
