Sending troops to Syria not realistic- Nikolay Bordyuzha

Asked about what kind of stance CSTO has over the Turkish bombardment of the Syrian town of Kessab, Nikolay Bordyuzha said that OAS’s mandate extends only on the territory of the member states, so that it is not realistic to say whether the allied leaders will reach to an agreement to send troops or a ground operation outside the borders of their countries.

“CSTO is a regional structure. Unlike NATO which says we would like to react to or influence the events taking place anywhere in the world, we talk about the security of our countries and CSTO’s mandate extends only on the territory of the member states to use security forces,” Bordyuzha said.
